Obituary for Lois Day

LOIS F. DAY
VINALHAVEN………………….Lois Fay Day, 65, died on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at the Sussman House in Rockport. Born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of Roy B. and Mary (Sweet) Peavey and was a graduate of Gloucester High School.
In January 20, 1998, she met her soulmate, Walter Day and they moved to Vinalhaven, his home town where they started a lobster business fishing aboard the F/V “NIGHT MOVES”.
In recent years, Lois enjoyed Vinalhaven Eldercare where she worked at the Ivan Calderwood Homestead as a caregiver. She also was a licensed massage therapist. Lois had taught her two grandsons how to lobster from a small boat powered with an outboard motor. She loved working in her many gardens.
Surviving is her husband, Walter Day of Vinalhaven; two daughters, Christine Mondello and Tony-Lee Mondello both of Rockland; stepchildren, Jason A. (Sheri) Day of Vinalhaven, Jada (Mark) Bottiglieri of Texas; Avery (Sarah) Day of Yarmouth; sisters, Deborah Peavey, Nancy Peavey; brothers, Roy B. Peavey, Don (Leslie) Peavey; mother-in-law, Ethelyn Day; aunt, Nina Sweet; grandchildren, Justin and Jacob Mondello, Alexander, Gabriel, Barbara, and Henley Day, Marina, Matthew, James, Andrew and Dominic Bottiglieri; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Mary Jane Nelson, brother, Robert Peavey, and father-in-law, Henley Day, and brother-in-law, Douglas Day.
Services will be held in Gloucester, Massachusetts at the convenience of the family. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.longfuneralhomecamden.com. Memorial gifts may be made in her memory to the Union Church; Vinalhaven Ambulance; or to Vinalhaven Eldercare. Arrangements are with the Long Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 9 Mountain Street, Camden.
