Obituary for Ralph Morgan Forsaith

RALPH M. FORSAITH, Jr.
CAMDEN………………….Ralph Morgan Forsaith, Jr., 96, of Camden and former resident of Putney, VT, died peacefully on September 18, 2018 at the Sussman House in Rockport.
He was born in Northfield, Massachusetts on Dec 10, 1921, the son of Ralph Morgan Forsaith Sr. and Lillian Mary (Storm) Forsaith. Upon graduating from Northfield Mount Hermon Prep School in Northfield, Massachusetts, he attended Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. During WWII and while attending his second year at Rutgers, he enlisted and served in the United States Army Air Corps, now the United States Air Force.
Stationed in Polebrook, Northamptonshire, England, he flew the B-17 Flying Fortress with the 8th Air Force, 351st Bomb Group and the 510th Squadron. He flew 32 combat missions throughout the European Corridor. Ralph was discharged from active duty as 1st Lieutenant with many awards and medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal.
Graduating from Rutgers University after the war he became Controller of W. R. Grace & Co, NY City. His work took him to South America where he lived in various countries with his family for seven years before returning home to the United States in 1957. He continued his travels around the world for W.R. Grace & Co. until his retirement in 1979.
On October 12, 1974, he married Nancy H. Realf in Upper Montclair, New Jersey.
As a retiree, he moved to Putney, Vermont where he became the Tax Assessor and an Antique Dealer. Always wanting to live near the sea, he and his wife, Nancy, moved to Camden, Maine. His interests included family, reading, crossword puzzles, working in his wood shop, Amateur Ham Radio Operator (Putney, VT) and researching genealogy on the computer.
Ralph who was an honorable and gentle man well loved by family and friends.
He was predeceased by his first wife of 26 years, Renee Braunstein Forsaith in 1968, who passed away in 1968, and brother, Matthew R. Forsaith, of Bernardston, Massachusetts, in 2005.
Ralph is survived by his second wife of 43 wonderful years, Nancy H. Realf Carlsen Forsaith, of Camden; two loving daughters, Barbara D. Forsaith Wolf (Tyler O.) of NJ; Joan C. Forsaith St. Martin (Ted G.) of CA; a son, Gregg R. Forsaith of CA; 3 step daughters, Susan A. Carlsen (Susan L. Ebersten) of Washington; Kathleen J. Carlsen Satterfield (Charles) of VT; Eileen M. Carlsen Brown (George L. Stone) of VT; six grandchildren: Melissa R. Wolf Lozier (Jason Munson) of PA; Rebecca R. Wolf Pizzi (Frank) of PA; Heather L. Wolf Matusik (David) of WI; Haley M. Forsaith of AR; Seth P. St. Martin (Susan) of CA; Ian T. St. Martin (Becca) of CA; 3 step grandsons, Garrett R. and Samuel S. Calantropio; Nicholas F. Satterfield and their wives all of VT and ten great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
