CAMDEN……………..Kathleen F. Fiztpatrick, 84, of Camden, died on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at her home surrounded by her devoted family. Born in Woodstock, Vermont on December 10, 1933, she was the daughter of Archibald D. and Margaret (Marsh) Flower.
In 1959, Kathleen received a Bachelor of Science degree in education at Suffolk University.
On February 24, 1962, Kathleen married John T. Fitzpatrick in Brookline.
While living in Chelmsford, Kathleen taught elementary education in Lowell. John and Kathleen owned and operated J & K Wallpaper in Billerica.
In 1972, the Fitzpatrick family moved to Camden where they purchased the Birchwood Motel operating it for 33 years until they retired. Kathleen was a communicant of Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church in Camden.
Kathleen was incredibly civic minded and was always actively involved in encouraging registered voters to vote. In Camden, she served as a board member of the Camden-Rockport (SAD #28); member of the parks and recreation committee and member of the budget committee for the Town of Camden; and was a volunteer at the Camden-Rockport Chamber of Commerce.
Her hobbies included spending time with her children and grandchildren, entertaining and playing cards. Kathleen and John enjoyed travelling and they would be the first couple on the dance floor. She loved a good laugh with friends.
Surviving is her husband of 56 years, John T. Fitzpatrick of Camden; three daughters, Lisa Shiner and her husband, Peter, of Woodbridge, VA; Nancy Miller and her husband, Scott of Potomac, MD; Lynn Williams and her husband, Matthew of Ft. Myers, FL; one sister, Marie Starrs of UT; eight grandchildren, Ryan Flynn, Kelsey Flynn, Keegan Flynn, Kathleen Davenport, Thomas Miller, Emalyn Williams, Nolan Williams, Kyle Williams, and many special nieces. She was predeceased by 7 brothers and sisters.
A memorial gathering in honor of Kathleen will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 27, 2018, at Hedge’s Hall, Point Lookout, 67 Atlantic Highway, Northport. Memorial gifts may be made in Kathleen’s memory to Camden Area District Nursing Association, P.O. Box 547, Camden, ME 04843, or exercise your right to vote in the November 2018 elections.
