Obituary for Allan R Frontin

Allan R Frontin
ALLAN R. FRONTIN
EDENTON, NC………………..Allan R. Frontin, 75, passed away surrounded by family on April 28, 2018 after a long period of deteriorating health.
He was born on March 6, 1943 in Melrose, Massachusetts, to John L. and Angela Mary Leblanc Frontin but was decidedly a Mainer, having moved to Camden at a very early age and showing the independence, creativity and determination of a Maine native. He spent most of his life in Maine except brief periods in Florida and North Carolina sandwiched between the raising of his five children alongside his loving wife of 60 years, Loretta.
He always possessed a love for the sea as he took on work as a cook on a yacht for a period of years in the mid 1960’s. Later in life he enjoyed trips to Nova Scotia on the Scotia Prince and enjoyed an unforgettable vacation cruise on the schooner Roseway with his eldest daughter, Tina. He held a great pride in his son Allan who joined the Navy and spent 23 years as a member of the Special Forces and especially enjoyed his hands-on tour of the Naval bases, exploring a variety of ships, boats and other state of the art naval equipment.
Allan enjoyed a variety of careers in addition to cooking on a yacht. He enjoyed many years as a talented salesman in the automotive industry, working at several local dealerships as well as a dealership in Florida. He fulfilled his love for gardening and landscaping as a young man working at Merry Gardens in Camden and later in life as caretaker for large estates in both Greenwich Connecticut and Falmouth Maine.
His home in Hope was always well groomed and contained many wonderful gardens and lawns where the family would gather to enjoy cookouts, birthdays, berry picking and other festivities. He was the ultimate handyman and further showed his woodworking skill by crafting Adirondack style chairs for his guests to enjoy. These are memories that his family will cherish greatly.
Allan loved his family and expressed great pride in each of his five children. He possessed a contagious laugh and a twinkle in his eyes whenever he smiled or playfully teased those around him. His Family was thankful that they all were able to spend time with him in the recent past, including Allan & Loretta’s 60th Anniversary. God created a truly unique individual in Allan Frontin and his personality and spirit will be missed by the family and all those that were privileged to know him.
Allan was predeceased by his parents, John L. and Angela Mary Leblanc Frontin and Daughter in law, Dawn Friel Frontin. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Loretta Pendleton Frontin; four daughters, Christine(Tina) Williams and her husband Jack, Suzette Waldron and her husband Louis, Angela Beard and her husband Jeff and Denise Surek and her husband Bruce; a son, Allan W. Frontin; a sister, Nancy Barnard; a brother, Ronald Frontin; 19 Grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
His ashes will be placed next to his parents during a private family gathering followed by a reception at 11AM, Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Camden.
