NANCEE K. GRIMES

CAMDEN…………..The family of Nancee Kay Grimes announces with profound sadness her passing, surrounded by family, on Saturday, February 17, 2018 after a brief illness. Nancee was born on December 10, 1943 in Bloomington, IL to Ellsworth and Kathleen Rust. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 51 years, Jim, whom she met in high school during the age of poodle skirts and rock and roll. They immediately fell in love and were each other’s best friends for the rest of their lives. They continued their journey while Jim was a student at the University of Notre Dame, and together they went on to move multiple times across many states -- some moves to which she actually agreed! But wherever she was, she was always with family. She was blessed with three children and nine grandchildren, who were all the light of her life. In addition to her husband, she leaves her son Jim (Larry) and their daughter Julia, her daughter Kelli (Casey) Gildea and their four sons Tanner, Griffin, Aidan and Christian, and her daughter Lisa (Juan) Lopez and their four sons Gabriel, Ronan, Cain and Dalton, all of whom know with absolute certainty she loved and cherished them. Nancee will also be forever remembered by her brother Michael (Lori) Rust, her nieces and nephews, and her extended family and friends. She leaves many close friends both here in the Midcoast and in the other places she once called home.
Nancee was a school teacher, talented painter, passionate gardener, and an avid reader. She loved to knit, play the piano, and listen to her grandchildren play the piano even more. She loved the natural beauty of Maine and the ocean off its coast. The friendships of the people she met at the Camden Yacht and Megunticook Golf Clubs blessed her with many fond memories. She was involved in numerous organizations, including Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Women’s Club and the Rockport Garden Club, where she met some of her dearest friends. She touched so many lives during her time and will be greatly missed.
A Memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 3, at 11am, at Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church, 7 Union St., Camden with Father Robert Vaillancourt presiding.
