Obituary for Richard Alfred Archambault

Richard Alfred Archambault
Richard Archambault
CAMDEN........Richard Alfred Archambault, 69 years of age of Camden, Maine, died suddenly on August 20, 2016. He climbed to the summit of Mount Megunticook in Camden Hills State Park to photograph the surrounding area. It was upon his decent that he passed away. Richard passed while living his dream of mountain hiking and photography.
Richard, born on March 2, 1947 in Worchester, Massachusetts to Camille and Madeline Archambault, served in the United States Navy from 1964-1968 and was stationed in Yokosuka, Japan. He took great pride in his work with the Navy Seals.
At the time of his passing he was employed with Dillon Boiler of Vermont/Fitchburg, Massachusetts. Prior to that, for his entire working life he was a sales representative for several heating companies including Eastern Refractories in Massachusetts. He was known by all as a legend in his field, well admired and respected by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis K. Lee of Camden, Maine. He is also survived by his son Richard Archambault Jr., his granddaughter Kaitlyn Hoagland and his grandsons Devon Archambault and Nicholas Hoagland, all of Massachusetts. He is predeceased by his daughter, Tracy. He also survived by relatives in California, including a brother Philip Archambault and many nephews and nieces.
Richard leaves behind several decades-long, incredible friends, including Robert Dubin, Wes Barter, Ken LaMura and a very special friend and coworker, Marie. Richard was also a "grandpa" to Hunter Louscher. While sailing a few years ago from Rhode Island to Camden Maine, Hunter and Richard developed a beautiful bond. They both brought much joy to each other up until his passing.
Richard was a woodworker, sailor, ice skater, swimmer, extreme mountain biker and marathon cycler. His woodworking shop was dubbed "The Lost Sailor." He played guitar, ukulele and Native American flute. He loved BMW motorcycles, was a hockey enthusiast and a dog-lover. He loved all sports and was truly a man for all seasons.
Richard was a huge fan of Peter Ralston, renowned photographer, who was recently instrumental in setting Richard on a new and exciting journey with regard to his photography. Being able to photograph New England, especially the working waterfront, brought Richard contentment and peace in the past few years.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to P.A.W.S. Animal Adoption Center in Camden Maine. Donations can be made through their website, pawsadoption.org. We know this would have made Richard very happy.
A service will be announced at a later date. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.longfunealhomecamden.com. Arrangements are with the Long Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 9 Mountain Street, Camden.
