Obituary for Betty Fletcher

Betty Fletcher
Betty Jean Mulholland Fletcher
Camden……..Betty Fletcher, 89, of Camden, Maine died at Quarry Hill retirement community on September 27th, 2018 of natural causes. The daughter of Ynema and Eugene Mulholland, she was born in New York City on February 26th, 1929. Shortly after she was born she moved with her mother and brother to Oklahoma City where she was raised, attended school and went to The University of Oklahoma.
In 1950 she married her first husband Max Mason Jr. While he served in the Korean War she worked for Eastern Airlines. Upon her husband’s return they moved to the Boston area where she raised three children, Max, Cynthia and Eliza. She divorced her first husband in 1980 and in 1985 married architect Norman Fletcher. She treasured her time with “Fletch”, particularly their summers together on Vinalhaven Island. Fletch and Betty moved to Camden in 2003.
Strikingly beautiful, Betty loved music, especially jazz. She was a wonderful dancer, loved to sing and acted in many local theater productions. She was very athletic, loved tennis, was a strong swimmer, and skied. She loved to give parties at her Lincoln, and Lexington, Mass homes, where her musician friends played, and everyone danced. In addition, she was an administrative assistant and tour guide in Boston. She was always the life of the party and had a passion for adventure. Her friends and family will never forget her smile, laughter and feisty sense of humor.
Betty is survived by her son Max (ZeeAnn), daughter Cynthia (Charles), and daughter Eliza, grandchildren Lucy, Amanda, Margaret, Nick, and one great grandson, Ethan.
Please join the family at a celebration of her life on November 17th, at Quarry Hill, 30 Community Drive, Camden, ME, at 3:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the PAWS of Camden, Maine, by sending a check made out to P.A.W.S. Animal Adoption Center to P.O. Box 707, Rockport, Maine, 04856 (207-236-8702) or to Vinalhaven Eldercare Services, P.O. Box 624, Vinalhaven, ME, 04863 (207-863-4600).
