Obituary for Nicholas Lorenzen

Nicholas Lorenzen
NICHOLAS R. LORENZEN
ROCKLAND…………………………Nicholas Ryan Lorenzen, 37, passed away on October 28th, 2017 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York. He was born on May 9th, 1980 at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport.
Nick, or “Fiddy”, as his close friends knew him, grew up in the Northeast, specifically Rhode Island, Connecticut and Maine. He graduated from Rockland District High School in Rockland where he was a member of the basketball and golf teams. He enjoyed those sports in his spare time as well; usually if you couldn’t find Nick at home, he was at the Rec Center playing ball. He also had an undeniable talent for art that he used as a means for expression.
Being raised by his mother in an all-female household, which included his grandmother and little sister, helped instill values of respect, compassion, and cleanliness. Nick always joked that because of that, he was a man who loved to cook and clean. Throughout his life, he worked as a cook at various restaurants wherever he resided, starting in Maine and most recently being employed at T-BONES and Cactus Jack’s in New Hampshire.
Nick always had a way with the ladies, a flirty personality, and a contagious smile that lit up any room he walked into. He was incredibly caring and selfless, constantly offering one of his teddy bear-style hugs. Nick developed hobbies and interests at a young age that he carried into adulthood, such as his love of game consoles starting with the original Nintendo and leading up to the PS4. Always having an interest in anything Disney related prompted several trips to Walt Disney World throughout his life. Around the age of 12, Nick received his first pair of Jordan sneakers which led to a life-long obsession with Michael Jordan. He had quite the impressive Jordan sneaker collection throughout the years. He was always up to date on the latest release and even being so devoted as to get a Jordan symbol tattoo on his leg. Nick is most notably remembered for his knowledge and love of music, specifically hip-hop. He was self-described as a “90’s hip-hop head.” Nick usually had the new music before it would hit the radio; he knew what was going to be popular before it was. Nicholas was a true car enthusiast from how the car was put together to making sure it always looked fresh. He was constantly working on improving his vehicles for car shows and was an original member (OG) of the car club Team 207 until he moved to New Hampshire.
As Nick aged into his thirties, he was very proud of his facial hair, particularly showing off his newly acquired greys. He could be seen constantly grooming his beard with his hands, his comb or his beard brush. As Nick grew, so did his love for sports. He could talk any major sport but would always favor his New England teams: Boston Bruins, Celtics, Red Sox, and New England Patriots. He was a true ride or die New England fan, attending as many games as he could.
He is survived by his mother Wanda Lorenzen of Rockland; his father Darrell Lorenzen of Monterey, California; his older brother, Christopher Stefan of Dallas, Texas; his older sister Stacey DeRobertis and her children Michael Gambino, Kylie Springer, and Reese Springer of Southampton, New York, and his younger sister Taylor “T-Pain” Gerry and her husband Kyle of Rockland, Maine.
He is lovingly remembered by his aunts, Madolin Fogarty of Rockland; Patricia his “2nd mom” Gushee of Providence, Rhode Island; Jan Spear of Miami, Florida; and Denise Pukas of Camden; his cousins, Brittany Parise, Logan Carrier, Corey Fogarty, Sean Fogarty, and their families; Renae Gushee and her partner Deb Smith as well as their family Angel, Aspen, and Eric; and Candice Delos Reyes and her spouse Cinthia Colon and their daughters Everette and Esme.
Nick had the biggest heart and built lasting meaningful relationships. He is fondly remembered for the good friend and “family member” that he was by former wife Tina Sue Lamb, their kitties Autumn and Aslan Dorito Lorenzen; former first wife, Amy Sue, her sister Elizabeth, and the rest of the Wagner family including kitty Fiddy; Brad Doucette, his fiancé Christeena and their family; Donald Ellis; as well as Team 207.
Nicholas is pre-deceased by his grandmother Dorothy Bruner-Spear, his uncle Allen Fogarty, and his kitties Angel and Precious.
A celebration of Nick’s life will be announced at a later date. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.longfuneralhomecamden.com. Arrangements are with the Long Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Camden.
